Concubine

This Beneteau First 40 is South Australian Jason Ward’s first offshore racing yacht after many years of competing in one design fleets, primarily Etchells and Melges 24s. Since taking the step up 18 months ago, Ward has drummed up some impressive results including second in the 2014 South Australia IRC Championship, third in division in the Adelaide to Port Lincoln race, second in division in the Great Southern regatta and second in PHS division of the Island Cup.

The Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race marks Concubine’s first major offshore race outside of South Australia and Ward is hoping his years of “picking the shifts to get the most out of a one design boat” will stand him in good stead for this 384 nautical mile east-coaster. Having Kevin ‘Cos’ Costin join the team as tactician will also prove a valuable asset for Ward.
